Meet the Hosts

Revised Episode: sorry about the lost interview if you got that first download. Today’s podcast is all about Little Leagues. We begin with a Tools of the Trade segment looking at which tools are of highest necessity when on extremely limited budgets. Then we talk with special guests Don Fowler (Former Turfgrass Extension Agent, Penn State) and his son, Jeff Fowler (Turfgrass Extension Agent, Penn State University) about their work with Little League International to maintain their championship fields and practice fields for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. And in our last segment (Special Subject) we dive in to strategies for fund raising for your Little League and other fields.

Small-Ball, Short’Cast — not so short after all (August 12, 2015)

(Revised 8/17/15) Whoops! Where did the Outta the Park Interview go? Don’t worry, we found it and stuck it right back where it belongs. Sorry about the mistake, folks. Hopefully you didn’t even notice that your podcast download changed, but if you did, now you know why.

Today’s podcast is all about the little guys — young baseball and softball players need nice fields too! So let’s get in to the dirt about Little Leagues. In the Tools of the Trade segment Paul and Theresa break down the tools that they think are the MOST necessary for maintaining a field properly when you have even the smallest budget (seriously small, like $500). They also make sure to discuss what those tools should be used for and which problems they have seen the most on these fields.

Then it’s time for our Outta the Park interview where we speak with special guests Don Fowler (Former Turfgrass Extension Agent, Penn State) and his son, Jeff Fowler (Turfgrass Extension Agent, Penn State) about their work with Little League International to maintain their championship fields and practice fields for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. They coordinate and work with an all volunteer crew to pull off absolutely amazing playing surfaces for the kids.

And in our last segment, Special Subject, we dive deep in to strategies, set-ups and potential pitfalls for fund raising for your Little League and other fields. Whether you’re interested in funding a privately owned or municipal field, Paul has a ton of experience to share and help you get a leg up on the process.
