Beacon Athletics Diamond DaVincis

Let's talk ballfields.

This podcast is dedicated to the artistry and science of sports field management. Diamond Davincis celebrates the men and women in the sports field industry whose fields are their canvas. This podcast will discuss ballfields and their artists at all levels — from the little leagues to the bigs, and everywhere in between. From time to time we may venture into the world of football and soccer groundskeeping. Golf? Forget about it! They have their own shows. We hope to educate, inform and entertain you with interviews from around the sports field management industry. Give your mind a break while working on your fields and give us a listen. Meet the Hosts

Join us as we talk Super Bowls – yes, plural. All of them, to be exact. Okay, not each and every one but George Toma(Former Head Groundskeeper, Kansas City Royals) tells us some great stories about a bunch of them, and he should know since he’s worked each and every Super Bowl and will be helping out at this year’s big game as well.

Super Bowl- Super Turf! (January 13, 2016)

Geore Toma superbowl 50
George Toma, Super Bowl 50. Thanks to KQED

Today’s episode is all about America’s favorite sporting event as the country prepares itself for the 50th Super Bowl!! Only 12 people have worked every single one of those games and George Toma is one of those privileged few. Before the first game George was actually asked to go down to Texas in December to prep the field for the Cowboys-Browns game. He was then asked to stay and prep the field for the Cotton Bowl and because everything went so well with the field that he was then invited to stay on for what became the first Super Bowl. But you should hear him tell it – colorful and interesting as always, we’re proud to devote this entire episode to learning about George’s experiences and how things have changed through the years (in turf, in football, and in life).
